Palestinians in Jerusalem stay on strike in protest for not releasing their sons
Palestine, Politics, 9/6/1999

Palestinians in East Jerusalem stayed on strike in protest over excluding detainees from occupied Jerusalem and Arab Israelis from last weekend's Palestinian - Israeli agreement.

Meanwhile the strike the national committee has called for in support of the captives in Jerusalem disrupted and suspended all services in East Jerusalem, where the trade markets and all economic, educational institutions were closed.

Moreover, tens of Palestinians have stayed on strike in front of the camp of the families of detainees at Beit El-Shark (Orient House), where they raised up leaflets denouncing the exclusion of their sons from the agreement for the release of the captives.

The head of the committee formed recently to defend the issue of the detainees from Jerusalem, Ahmed Laben, said the strike was to express anger over the exclusion of detainees of Jerusalem, though the agreement included the freeing of 350 political detainees.
