Morocco hosts G-77 ministerial conference
Regional-Morocco, Economics, 9/4/1999

Marrakesh will host this September 13-16 the Group of 77 ministerial conference to define documents and positions for the 10th UNCTAD session (UN Conference on Trade and Development).

In the same city which hosted more than four years ago the conference that gave birth to the World Trade Organization (WTO), a decisive encounter will gather ministers from 77 developing countries.

Delegates will prepare for the 10th UNCTAD session slated for 2000 in Bangkok through a work plan dealing with "development strategies in an increasingly interdependent world" and "implementing past lessons to make of globalization an efficient tool at the service of all countries and all individuals."

Participants will also debate the UNCTAD's role to support developing countries and means to improve this role.
