Tunisian olive oil exports increase dramatically

Tunisian official statistics indicated a strong increase in the value of olive oil exports from Tunis within the first seven months of 1999 to reach 216.3 million dinars (1 US dollar = 1.19 dinar) compared to 121.5 million dinars in the same period last year.
The amount of olive oil products produced totaled 150,000 tons during 1998-99, lower than the expected production of 190,000 tons, but still higher than last season's production, which was 90,000 tons.
The season for producing olive oil continues from November till March.
