Egypt-Indonesia, Business, 9/3/1999
The Indonesia embassy in Cairo is organizing a working visit for a number of Egyptian businessmen to hold talks and consultations with their Indonesian counterparts on the establishment of mutual projects for investment and trade. These consultations will take place on the sidelines of the 14th annual Indonesian conference held on October 20 - 24 in Jakarta.
The Indonesian ambassador in Cairo, Korish Shehab, said this visit aims at bolstering commercial and economic relations, increasing the volume of commercial exchange between Egypt and Indonesia and coordinating cooperation between the two countries' private sectors.
The ambassador added that the volume of commercial exchange between Egypt and Indonesia amounted to nearly $85 million in the first six months of the current year, representing an increase of 22.5% compared to the same period of last year.
He added that it is expected that more than more 100 countries will take part in this year's fair, in which different goods will be presented, such as textiles, cars, paper products, electronic apparatus, mining products, spare parts, and furniture.
The ambassador said last year's fair was attended by 800 presenters from Indonesia and another 300 from 100 countries, adding that commercial deals worth $72 million were signed.
