Israel kills more Lebanese civilians

Two Lebanese civilians were killed and another three injured as a result of Israel's shelling of the villages of the West Bekaa in eastern Lebanon.

Lebanese medical sources said Fatima Halabi and Hassan Aqel were killed as a result of Israel's shelling of the Lebanese town of Labaya.

Meanwhile, the Israeli artillery intensified its bombardment on Wednesday against Lebanese the villages of the western Bekaa. The Israeli bombardment caused heavy material damage, set fire to fields of wheat and olive and cut off electrical power to several villages.

Israeli warplanes on Wednesday evening raided the western Bekaa, Lebanese security sources reported. The sources added that the planes attacked Zallaya valley area and fired two missiles.

The Lebanese army and resistance fired on the Israeli warplanes, which dropped thermal balloons.

Further reports from south Lebanon said three pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army militia members were killed and several others injured when the Lebanese resistance destroyed their armored vehicle on a road close to Zamraya crossing in south Lebanon.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Lebanese resistance said that one of its groups detonated an explosive charge when a SLA patrol was passing through the area, causing heavy casualties. Just four hours later, the SLA militia sent a rescue patrol in an armored vehicle which was blown up by the resistance.

Israeli forces on Wednesday bombarded the suburbs of Sujoud, al-Tasse spring area, Aqmata farm and al-Rayhan farm in al-Tuffah district.

Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery also bombarded the southern suburbs of the western Bekaa and the area extending from al-Sareyrah up to Kafer Houneh triangle. The shelling coincided with heavy machine gun fire from two Israeli positions in Eisheyah and al-Rayhan.
