Egyptian - Sudanese talks on petroleum cooperation
Sudan-Egypt, Economics, 9/1/1999

Coming from Khartoum, after taking part in Sudan's celebrations of exporting the first cargo of raw petroleum outside the state, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Hamdi El-Banbi and his accompanying delegation returned to Cairo yesterday evening.

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir raised the Sudanese flag over the first petroleum tanker heading to Singapore and carrying the first cargo of Sudanese petroleum exports.

Within his two-day visit, Hamdi El-Banbi held talks with Sudanese Minister of Energy and Mining Awad Al-Jaz during which they tackled aspects of cooperation between the two states in the field of petroleum, including the possibility of establishing joint petroleum projects making use of experience and trained technical cadres in the two countries. They also called for exchanging experiences in all areas related to the petroleum industry, such as discovery, production, transportation and refining petroleum.
