Egyptian national committee for defending prisoners of opinion to hold strike on Tuesday

The Egyptian national committee for defending prisoners of opinion called today for abolish laws that relate to making publishing a crime, and called for halting punishments issued against Majdi Ahmed Hussien, a member of journalist union's council, journalist Salah Bediowy and caricaturist Essam Hanafy.
The committee, moreover, decided to hold a strike until next Tuesday at the headquarters of the Labor Party, calling for the symbols of the parties and political forces to take part in the three-hour strike.
In addition, the committee has determined to convene a people's conference on sanctions that deprive freedom in publishing.
They also called for expanding a campaign aimed at explaining the danger of imprisoning prisoners of opinion.
Meanwhile, the Journalists' Union's council urged Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to review the laws dictating the imprisonment of journalists.
