Yemen, Politics, 9/1/1999
Yemeni sources said on Tuesday that heavy artillery confrontations took place between the army and people of three villages in southern Yemen. No casualties were reported.
A source in the Yemeni security forces said, "Unidentified persons fired anti-tank shells against an army camp in Dale' area north of Aden on Monday night."
Eyewitnesses said the confrontation took place between a camp for the army on one of the hills and citizens of three villages facing the camp, al-Jalila, al-Sawda' and al-Humeira. The confrontation resulted in material losses in the said villages.
A confrontation that took place between the people of the villages of Zubeir district, close to the three villages and one of the army bases in 1998 resulted in seven deaths: three civilians and four military men.
