King Mohammed VI receives message from UAE president
Morocco-United Arab Emirates, Politics, 8/31/1999

King Mohammed VI received on Monday, Sheikh Hamdane Ben Zayed al-Nahyan, foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates, who conveyed a message from UAE President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nahyan. The press agency of the UAE, WAM, quoted the UAE president's envoy as saying that the message deals with "brotherly relations between the two peoples and latest Arab and international developments."

The UAE official, who attended on Monday a religious ceremony marking the 40th day of the passing away of King Hassan II, said, "Thanks to the wisdom and perspicacity of the two countries' heads of state, the joint actions for the unification of Arab ranks will be successful."

He said the two countries are "determined to develop relations of friendship between the Moroccan and UAE peoples and carry on efforts to unify positions of Arab countries."

After he took over the throne last July 30, one week after the passing away of his father King Hassan II, King Mohammed VI sent to the president of the United Arab Emirates a message dealing with the relations existing between the two countries, bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual concern.

The king sent similar messages to other heads of state of Arab Gulf states.
