Garang holds talks in Cairo on solving Sudanese problem

The head of the rebel Sudanese People's Liberation Movement (SLPM), Col. John Garang arrived yesterday in Cairo for a visit to Egypt that is to last for several days, at the conclusion of his tour that included a number of European countries.

Official sources in the SLPM in Cairo said in press statements that Garang is going to brief the Egyptian officials on the outcome of his European tour and his discussions with officials in these countries on Sudanese affairs.

Sources added that the discussions would basically concentrate on the coming steps concerning the Egyptian - Libyan initiative to solve the Sudanese crisis and the preparatory meeting for the September 13 conference on political reconciliation in Sudan between the government forces and the opposition, in addition to the current developments in the Sudanese arena.
