Iraq pumps oil for Turkey
Iraq-Turkey, Economics, 8/31/1999
Iraq has started oil pumping at a value of US $10 million to Turkey as a contribution to alleviate the consequences of the destructive earthquake which hit the country this month.
The chairman of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, Sadeq Hamid Alloush, said that Iraq started on Sunday to pump an average of 100,000 barrels every day for five days and the whole amount to be pumped by the end of the sixth day.
He added that a team from the Iraqi society will leave Baghdad for Ankara today to coordinate with the Turkish authorities on distributing aid to families of the victims of the earthquake.
The Iraqi aid is not part of the oil permitted to be sold by Iraq according to the oil-for-food agreement.
