USA donates Jordan $50 million

The United States of America granted Jordan $50 million part of the US annual economic assistance to Amman, said the US ambassador in Amman.
The US grant will enable Jordan to consolidate economic reforms, promote investments, create job opportunities and improve the Jordanians' income. It will also alleviate Jordan's foreign debt ($6.8 billion in 1998) and increase the country's hard currency reserves.
This donation brings up the U.S. contribution to the Jordanian economy to $219.3 million.
