Khartoum criticizes Clinton's decision to appoint special envoy for Sudan
Sudan-USA, Politics, 8/30/1999
Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael stated that Sudan did not take part in choosing the US president's envoy to Sudan.
In the first official comment on the decision of US President Bill Clinton, the Sudanese minister stated that the way in which US envoy Harry Johnston was chosen and specifying his mission expresses an arrogance that does not agree with the context of the UN charter in the relations between countries.
In statements to the Sudanese news agency, Ismael said yesterday that till now the USA has failed in handling its issues with Sudan, the last of which was the destruction of the El-Shifaa pharmaceutical factory.
