Gaddafi views Arab-Israeli peace process as surrender
Libya-Regional, Politics, 8/30/1999
Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi has described the Arab-Israeli peace process as a surrenderist operation. He added that this operation is being carried out at the expense of the Palestinian people and their rights.
In a statement reported by the London-based al-Hayat daily, Gaddafi added what is taking place is not a peace process. He added, "Despite the fact I am not at the time being interested in the Arabs or in the Middle East question, yet what is taking place so far is not a peace process. It is a surrender. What is taking place now could be achieved in 1948, in 1956 or in 1967 and between these dates. What is being made now could have been made then because that was intended by Israel while the Arabs were always refusing and they continued boycotting and confrontation, and they have just now accepted what is called Israel."
