Turkey announces support for Kuwait in facing foreign threats

Ismael Cem, Turkey foreign minister announced yesterday his country's support for Kuwait in facing any foreign attack. At the conclusion of his visit to Kuwait, Cem confirmed that his government opposed Iraq's threats against Kuwait and the countries of the region. He also called on the Iraqi government to respect the UN Security Council's decisions.
Cem, who met at the end of his visit with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jaber al-Sabah, announced his country's support for a partial lifting of the sanctions imposed on Iraq as an indication of the good intentions if the Iraqi regime would cooperate with the UN.
