Mubarak hopes to achieve peace soon
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 8/26/1999

In a meeting with Egyptian university students, Egyptian President Honsi Mubarak expressed his hope of achieving peace in the Middle East and Israeli implementation of the Wye River accord and adherence to international laws and resolutions.

He said efforts were exerted by the Egyptian government to reconcile the points of view between the Sudanese government and the opposition. He added that there were no problems between Egypt and Sudan, saying that the relations between Egypt and the Nile basin states are at their best, denying rumors he said were aimed at damaging relations between Ethiopia and Cairo.

The Egyptian president also called for speeding up the establishment of the common Arab market saying 97% of the Arabs agree to this.

He concluded by saying that there is no pressure on anyone to normalize relations with any other country.
