First Syrian aid arrives in Turkey

Turkey on Monday received the first batch of the Syrian aid for the victims of the earthquake which hit the country last week.
The cargo of the two Syrian planes was handed over to the Turkish emergency and the Red Crescent organizations upon their arrival in Istanbul, in the presence of Syria's general consul in Istanbul, Majid Khudr.
Meanwhile, Istanbul's deputy governor, Yulytki Odie, has expressed his country's deep thanks for Syria's President, government and people with the arrival of the fourth delivery of relief aid sent at the directives of Syrian President Hafez al-Assad.
The fourth delivery of Syrian aid out of five shipments of humanitarian, foodstuffs and medical aid was handed over in the presence of Syria's general consul in Istanbu.
Earlier in the day, two Syrian aircraft loaded with 125 tonnes of humanitarian items left Sunday for Turkey. The loads includes children's food, antibiotic medicines, cotton for medical use various serums and other related supplies.
In a statement to SANA's correspondent in Ankara, Syrian Health Minister Muhammad Eyad al-Shatti said, "We are sending this material aid to the friendly Turkish people in accordance with President al-Assad's directives."
In a similar statement the Turkish ambassador in Damascus said he appreciates this "humanitarian act by the Syrian people and president."
