Libyan - Egyptian delegation talks in Khartoum with government and opposition

Official Libyan sources said yesterday that the joint Libyan- Egyptian delegation that is currently visiting Sudan is holding talks with Sudanese figures aimed at achieving reconciliation between the government and the Sudanese opposition and paving the way for these side to meet to discuss solving the Sudanese problem and making Sudan avoid the results of its long-running civil war.

The sources added that the delegation met with Sudanese Second Vice President George Kongor Arop, Minister of Foreign Relations Mustafa Othman Ismael and Riak Mashar, head of the coordination council in southern Sudan.

These officials expressed the Sudanese government's commitment to establishing a new Sudan, according to principles and bases on which all the Sudanese people's interests are considered.
