Trial in Yemen for killers of seven citizens
Yemen, Judicial, 8/23/1999
Trial procedures started on Saturday in Yemen for the man who is accused of killing seven persons at the beginning of this month in Sanaa.
AFP said that Ali Abdullah Hussein al-Hajri (42) was accused of the deliberate killing of seven persons and wounding of another 45 when he threw a bomb into a crowd of people in a market in downtown Sanaa.
The paper added that the convict kept silent at the trial's opening session and refused to answers questions asked by the judge, the attorney general and the lawyers.
The Yemeni authorities had stated that the attack was carried out by a mentally-unbalanced man who sought to punish persons to whom he paid US $40 but who did not give him a handwatch they promised.
