Mubarak confers with Arafat
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 8/23/1999

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak met on Sunday in Alexandria with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. The meeting was attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa, and President Mubarak's advisor, Osama El-Baz, on the Egyptian side, while the Palestinian side was represented by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nabil Shaath, and Arafat's advisor, Nabil Abu Rudinah.

The two sides discussed developments on the Palestinian track and existing obstacles before implementing the Wye River agreement.

Meanhwhile, Arafat met on Sunday in Alexandria with the secretary general of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Nayef Hawatemah. The two sides discussed means of coordinating stances between the various Palestinian groups concerning the final status negotiations and requirements for the coming phase.
