Algerian president congratulates Moroccan king on 46th anniversary of revolution of king and people

Algerian president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, sent king Mohammed VI a congratulations message on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the revolution of the King and the people marked on Friday.

The Algerian president renewed in his message the "brotherly links" existing between the two heads of state and between the Moroccan and Algerian people.

He stressed that the anniversary is not only an opportunity to remember the historic glories of the two people and the epics of the Algerian revolution leadership and of the liberation army in solidarity with the Moroccan people and their king, but also to stand by the Moroccan people and by the Moroccan king who are marking this anniversary for the first time since the passing away (last July 23) of King Hassan II.

Bouteflika called King Hassan II's demise as "a loss for both the arab maghreb and the arab-muslim nation."

He also deemed the anniversary as an instance of the unity of the two peoples in their common struggle for independence from the yoke of colonization. "This shared anniversary between our two people is an irrefutable evidence to the unity of their struggle and their destiny." One of the manifestations of the celebration by the Algerian people of this anniversary is a decision to name one of the major avenues in Algeria after the late King Mohammed V, he added.
