Abdul Meguid: Great challenges facing the Arab world
Regional, Politics, 8/21/1999

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid stated that there are great challenges facing the Arab world that need a serious response and a well-prepared Arab summit.

Regarding the current arrangement for convening the coming session of the Arab foreign ministers on September 12, Abdul Meguid said the communications on this matter are continuous and that they were received with awareness from all the Arab foreign ministers regarding the important issues listed on the agenda.

Meanwhile, secretary general of the Islamic World's Association, Abdul Allah Bin Saleh El-Ebeidi, stated that the holy Al Aqsa mosque and its surroundings belong to the Muslims and that it is no one else's right to control it or the city of Jerusalem.

He expressed his extreme sorrow for continuing Israeli aggression against Lebanon and its occupation of Jerusalem.
