Translating Quran into Indonesian language
Egypt-Indonesia, Religion, 8/20/1999
It was decided to form a committee of Indonesian graduates and the superior students of high studies who received their education in Egypt to translate the holy Quran into the Indonesian language under the patronage of the Indonesian cultural attache in Cairo.
This was said yesterday when Egyptian Minister of Endowments Mahmoud Hamdi Zakzouk received a member of the Quran committee at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Indonesian ambassador Mohammed Korish Shehab.
Korish, who has a doctorate from El-Azhar University, will assume the revision of the final translation by himself, and the supreme council for Islamic affairs will assume its printing to serve 350 million Moslems from those who speak the Indonesian language in Indonesia and its neighboring countries.
This work comes amid boosting relations between Egypt and Indonesia in religious affairs, spreading the Islamic culture and serving Islam and Moslems.
