Iraq-France, Business, 8/20/1999
The French company Alcatel has started upgrading the Iraqi telephone network, in light of convening a cooperation contract between the company and Baghdad.
The cooperation agreement is valued at $60 million to develop the communications network that was badly damaged in the 1990 Gulf War.
The contract of cooperation calls for the French company to supply Iraq with seven telephone nets, includes 140,000 lines and an international network for foreign communications.
