Israeli Shas movement calls for immediate withdrawal from Lebanon

An Iraqi military spokesman stressed on Wednesday that Iraqi planes intercepted US and British planes in the "no-fly zones" in the southern part of Iraq and forced them to leave the area. The spokesman stated that US and British planes flew over the Iraqi provinces of Dhi Qar, Al Muthanna, Maysan, Al Basra and Al Qadisiyah. He added that the total number of armed sorties carried out by the US and British jets since December 17, 1998 until now reached 11,549.

King Mohammed VI has granted free pardon to 425 persons on the occasion of the commemoration of the revolution of the king and the people, celebrated by Morocco on August 20, a statement by the justice department said. Some of the concerned persons will be released while others will have their prison term commuted.

A total of 586 cases of AIDS were reported in Morocco up to last March 31, according to a medical source quoted by Moroccan daily Al Alam. Most of AIDS-affected persons are men (69.3%). The rate of AIDS-affected persons in the 15 to 29 years age bracket stands at 23%, while that of persons aged between 30 and 39 is of 46%. Out of the 586 cases, 89% were reported in urban areas, the medical source said.
