Egyptian Minister of Tourism Mamdouh El-Beltagi announced that about 357,000 tourists came to Egypt during the period of the month-long festival for shopping and tourism that was inaugurated on July 20, an increase of 18% compared to last year.

He also said the average rate of hotel occupancy amounted to 83%, an increase of 5.3% over last year, adding that the space of the fairs held within the festival amounted to 9,000 meters, in addition to 14,000 square meters in the fair department, included the exhibits of 521 companies.

Meanwhile, El-Beltagi stated that the gold festival added new activities to this year's festival where the volume of the gold work amounted to 15.5 million pounds, leading the gold market in Egypt not to be affected by the world depression and reduction of prices that prevailed in the international gold markets.
