Israeli Shas movement calls for immediate withdrawal from Lebanon

With the escalation of Lebanese resistance operations which resulted in killing three Israeli soldiers and wounding another six, as admitted by an Israeli military spokesman, the Israeli Shas movement asked the government of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to withdraw immediately from south Lebanon, saying it will raise this matter in the next meeting of the Israeli government.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces and their South Lebanon Army militia allies bombarded south Lebanon, using machine guns and heavy artillery, and in retaliation the Lebanese resistance attacked on Wednesday the Israeli position in Barachit.
In a statement the Lebanese resistance said one Lebanese resistance group destroyed the front fortifications of the positions and wounded or killed its personnel following a violent 20-minute clash.
Lebanese security forces in Tyre in south Lebanon said that three SLA militia members were wounded.
On Tuesday after midnight, the Lebanese resistance attacked Israeli helicopter that landed in the surroundings of the area of fighting between the two sides in Wadi al-Salouki, Houla and al-Abbad. Lebanese resistance sources said that two Israeli helicopters flew in the region and monitored the withdrawal of the helicopter after it was attacked by the resistance.
Moreover, Lebanese security sources said he Israeli occupation forces bombarded the outskirts of Barachit, Hadatha, and Haris towns in the central sector of south Lebanon. The sources added that the bombardment coincided with heavy machine gun fire against the targeted areas.
Meanwhile, Lebanese President Emile Lahoud described during his meeting on Wednesday in Beirut with a people's delegation the confrontations carried out by the Lebanese resistance against the Israeli occupation forces as "elevating the dignity of all Arabs."
The Lebanese president expressed his optimism over what is taking place in south Lebanon and the western Bekaa, stressing that the essence "of hope lies in that we and our Syrian brothers are standing in one trench, and we pin great expectations on achieving just and comprehensive peace from our own perspective."
The Lebanese president underlined the importance of Lebanon restoring its regional and international role. He added, "We will achieve our goals, thanks to the unity of our people and we find great hopes in building the state of the law and free and just judicial system. Lebanon is the home for all Lebanese and its capital Beirut is the capital of all Arabs."
