An Egyptian newspaper attacks US authorities for treatement of Egyptian passenger

The Egyptian newspaper El-Akhbar attacked the US authorities for evacuating an Egyptian citizen, Kadria Mohammed Daood, a student at the American university of Cairo (AUC ) just as she arrived at the airport of Los Angeles. The young lady was to travel to USA and had a visa for USA till the years 2001.

She added, that at the moment she arrived to the airport, they said to her that her visa is invalid despite the US embassy having confirmed to her that is is valid till 2001, but the airport's officer took kadria's money ($7,000), on Tuesday 10/08/99, in addition the officer insulted her with ethnic remarks about Arabs, Egyptians and the US embassy in Cairo.

Kadria clarified: "the officer put the cuffs on my hands, where they strongly pushed me to the bureau of finger prints, taking photos to me, to put me into jail."

"After 5 hours of continued questions they headed me to one of the dirty motels near to the air port - filled with insects and all kinds of reptiles, moving on the aground, where the wall and bed sheets full of blood, and outside the rooms door, 9 officers were standing."

In the next day, she was not allowed to go to Cairo, unless she phoned her father - after permitting her to where the latter called her embassy who helped Kadria return to Cairo.
