Algerian Minister of Interior: Final security events expected before referendum

Algerian Minister of Interior Abdelmalek Sellal said yesterday that the security events (problems) that take place before the September 16 referendum on the civil rapport law are expected as an expression of the extremists' oppositon to achieving reconciliation and stability.

He said the civil reconciliation law aims at persuading the greatest number of terrorists to abandon armed violence.

The Algerian minister of interior denied that persons who were lately released in a political pardon might have joined the terrorists' forces in the mountainous region.

He also stated that they are followed up on by the security organizations, denying reports that the number of terrorists does not exceed 400.
