Abdul Meguid calls on Israel to respect its pledges, delay in Arab meeting

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid renewed his confirmation that the league supports and backs up the Palestinian negotiators in the Mideast peace process in restoring Palestinian legal rights.
Meanwhile, Abdul Meguid expressed his hope that the Israeli government will respect its pledges and implement it for solving the problem.
Returning to Cairo from Amman yesterday afternoon after he took part in the inauguration of the ninth Arab sports tournament, which started officially on the Monday in the Jordanian capital, Abdul Meguid said he convened several meetings on the margins of the tournament, the most important of which were his meeting with Jordan's King Abdallah and Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh, adding that his meetings in the Jordanian capital were fruitful and useful, tackling Arab joint work in different domains.
Concerning the date of convening the coming Arab foreign minister's council, Abdul Meguid said it is scheduled to be held on September 4 - 5, but some Arab states expressed their desire to delay the meeting for a week due to international commitments, where its is currently discussed and it will be delayed for a week.
