UAE company takes part in Baghdad International Conference
United Arab Emirates-Iraq, Politics, 8/18/1999

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry said on Tuesday that 30 companies from the United Arab Emirates will take part in the Baghdad International Exhibition, due to be held in November.

The UAE official in charge of exhibitions and conferences at the chamber of trade and industry, Fahd al-Farqawi, said this is his chamber's second participation in Baghdad's international conference, "through which we seek to strengthen common trade relations between Iraq and Dubai."

He added that most companies participating in the fair specialize in the sectors of foodstuffs, agriculture, medicines and construction, saying, "We seek to sign contracts in the course of oil for food program."

Earlier in July, a spokesman for the chamber said the value of imported goods or those reexported to Iraq from Dubai ports reached US $55 million in 1997, against only US $2.5 million in 1995.
