A new failure for the Palestinian - Israeli negotiations
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 8/16/1999
Palestinian - Israeli negotiators failed to reach an agreement in a meeting that lasted more than six hours last night in Gaza to discussing an Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank according to the Wye River accord.
Top Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said that the disputes still focus on the time frame for implementing the Wye River accord and some of the other essential issues concerning it.
Erekat also said it was agreed to form a joint committee to discuss the problem of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
Israel promised to withdraw from 30% of the occupied Palestinian lands in return for obtaining new security guarantees from the Palestinian government.
