Sudanese ruling party supports reconciliation with opposition

The Sudanese ruling National Conference Party announced its support for reconciliation with the opposition.

Sudanese dailies yesterday said that elements of the Shura council, who number is 500, expressed their relief toward reconciliation efforts carried out by Egypt and Libya, aimed at implementing national reconciliation in Sudan between the government and the opposition Democratic National Alliance, which includes the northern opposition and the southern rebel Sudan People's Liberation Army, chaired by John Garang.

In the same context, the Sudanese newspaper El-Rai El-Am said yesterday that the Egyptian and Libyan governments have agreed upon merging their intiatives for achieving reconciliation in Sudan into one initiative, with the aim of coordinating efforts on this issue.
