Iranian - Turkey security talks for easing tension between them
Iran-Turkey, Politics, 8/13/1999
Iran and Turkey concluded talks today that lasted two days in Ankara to discuss security issues after the renewal of tensions between the two countries due to Tehran's accusation that Ankara launched an aggression against it.
Radio of London quoted as undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Interior, Yehia Dar, as saying, "Turkey has long borders with Iran, and it is normal that this results in some problems which we seek to solve."
Dar headed the Turkish side, while the Iranian side was headed by Deputy Minister of Interior Gholam-Hussein Bolandian.
These talks came in an atmosphere of relative ease, especially as Tehran released two Turkish soldiers who had been held in Iran for two weeks, after entering Iranian territories by accident.
