Messages between Israel, Tunisia

Sources at the Israeli foreign ministry on Wednesday unveiled that the Tunisian authorities will send in the coming time new diplomats in order to re-operate the Tunisian representative office in Tel Aviv.

The Israeli radio quoted these sources as saying that the Tunisian media have taken a positive stand towards Israel in contrary to what had been before due to what it described ( the radio) the intention of the Israeli government to proceed in the peace process forward. The sources continued that the chairman of the new Israeli representative office in Tunisia Benei Omar started on Tuesday to occupy his new post after he had got an entry visa from the Tunisian authorities, a matter which Tunisia had refused in the past.

The Israeli radio continued that the Israeli representative office in Tunisia will be changed from the hotel where the employees have so far worked into a permanent headquarters in the capital, Tunis. The Israeli radio added that 101 journalists from the Arab states will arrive in Israel by the beginning of next month including journalists from Jordan, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia. The Israeli radio also said on Wednesday that Tunisia has asserted for Israel in a message sent by the Tunisian Foreign ministry recently to Israel that normalizing relations with Israel will be in parallel with achieving a progress in the Peace process.

The Israeli radio explained that this message is the first reply from an Arab states to the message that was sent by the Israeli foreign minister David Levy to his counterparts in the world in this respect. On the other hand, sides concerned at the Israeli foreign ministry said on Wednesday that Tunisia has recently permitted the representative of Israel at the Tunisian capital to convene meetings on highest level rather than used to be permitted in the past and that this Israeli representative had met with the Tunisian deputy minister of the defence and foreign affairs.
