Six countries to join Arab market
Regional, Economics, 8/12/1999

The secretary general of Arab Economic Unity Council in Cairo, Hassan Ibrahim, announced there are six countries currently examining joining the Arab common market: Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunis, and Sudan.

Seven Arab states are already participating in the agreement: Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Yemen.

He said the council's trusteeship has made contacts with the six states that are currently studying participation in the market.

Hassan called for officials in these states to offer the comprehensive political and spiritual support for the Arab common market to enhance the Arab economy.
