Mufti of Egypt calls for eclipse prayers.

Egypt was to witnesses a solar eclipse today, as the Egyptian streets sat empty of people and a state of emergency was announced, fearing any harm that could affect citizens.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Mufti released a statement on the occasion of the solar eclipse, in which he called on Moslems to perform the eclipse prayer, as the Moslems prayed the eclipse prayer in the Arab countries.

The Mufti also called for avoiding watching the sun during the eclipse, fearing the danger that could affect the lives of human beings totally and partially and loss of their sight.

In Upper Egypt, rumors were spread that it is doomsday.

The eclipse passed across England, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria, continuing its course in the Asian continent via Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and ending in the Indian peninsula.

The Eclipse was total and complete in northern Syria in the al-Malekeyah and Ein Dewar areas. It lasted from 13:20 to 16:00 (Damascus local time). Its peak was at 14.44. The width of the full Eclipse strip in these areas was 110 km.
