Qatari emir to Lebanese parliament: No peace without full Israeli withdrawal from Arab lands
Qatar-Lebanon, Politics, 8/11/1999
Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani stated that the Arab area stands today at a crossroads and that there are crucial challenges which must be confronted in solidarity and reaching an indispensable basis for a unified Arab strategy based on shared interests and joint goals.
Sheikh Hamad said in the address he delivered yesterday during the special session held by the Lebanese Parliament -- attended by Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss, ministers, deputies and members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps -- that, "In Qatar there is no solution to this conflict, and no peace in the area except through a just, permanent and comprehensive settlement based on basis of international legitimacy and United Nations resolutions."
He said that it is necessary for Israel to fully withdraw from the Arab territories it occupies in order to reach peace.
