1998 Egyptian agricultural exports at LE 1.7 billion

Egyptian agricultural exports in 1998 were worth LE 1.7 billion, Egyptian Deputy Premier and Agriculture Minister Youssef Wali said yesterday at a seminar on protein foods and fats.
He said that through implementation of free trade agreements with Arab states, partnership agreements with Europe and Egypt's membership in the Common Market of Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Egypt expects its agricultural exports to rise to LE 5 billion by the year 2004.
"Egypt is proceeding on the road towards liberating its foreign trade," Wali stated.
