Arab conference on solar eclipse in northern Iraq

The works of the first astronomical conference organized by Mosul University began yesterday in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul with the participation of researchers and astronomers from Egypt, Libya, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq.

The conference, which is being held on the occasion of solar eclipse that is to take place tomorrow, is due to discus 24 scientific researches tackling the astronomical phenomenon, the solar system the optical phenomenon, the astronomical science and the science of chronology in ancient Arabia, Moslem society and ancient Iraq.

The conference is to be concluded by establishing an astronomical camp in an Iraqi village located along the eclipse line northeast of Mosul to follow this universal phenomenon, where the level of clarity will amount to 85%.

The total eclipse will appear in Dehouk, Arbiel and Colmania in northern Iraq, accompanied by a reduction in temperature and the appearance of stars in the sky during the day. Baghdad will witness a partial eclipse.
