Gaddafi receives Pakistani, Gambian messages

Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi on Monday received a message from Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Libyan television said on Sunday night that Pakistani Minister of the Interior Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain had delivered the message to Col. Gaddafi on Sunday in Tripoli.

Gaddafi also received a message from the envoy of Gambia's president who handed him a message from Gambian President Yahya Jammeh. The message pertains to developing bilateral relations and a proposal to convene a special summit for the Organization of African Unity in Libya with the objective of preparing the African continent for the 21st century.

The assistant secretary for African affairs at the Libyan foreign office, Ali Abdul Salam al-Tureiki, met on Monday in Tripoli with Gambian Foreign Minister Seidad Houb, currently visiting Libya. The two officials discussed bilateral relations and current preparations to convene the special African summit in Libya on September 6 - 9.
