Libyan newspaper renews compensation call for World War II losses
Libya-UK, Politics, 8/9/1999
The Libyan newspaper El-Jamahiria El-Libya renewed yesterday its demands that the U.K pay compensation for its use of the Libyan lands in its war against Axis forces in World War II.
It said the U.K.'s armies entered Libya without permission and caused great damage and that land mines are still planted in its soil.
It has also said, "If it were not for Libya, the results of World War II would not have been for the good of U.K and the Allied countries."
The newspaper added, "Libya did a big favor to the U.K" and that the British debt to Libya is a heavy one.
The newspaper concluded its article by saying, "Britain must pay a very large bill for the size of the British military group on the Libyan lands in 1941."
