Iraq: Seeds of conflict with Iran still exist
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 8/9/1999
On the occasion of the 11th anniversary of the end of the Iraqi-Iranian war, the Iraqi daily Babel said that the seeds of conflict between the two countries are still in existence.
The paper added, "So far some 11 years passed since Iraq's victory in the war with Iran and the ceasefire between the two countries, yet it can be said that peace has mot been realized between Baghdad and Tehran."
The paper added that reasons for the war that set Iran against Iraq in 1980 still exist 19 years after its eruption, especially in the persistence of Iran in interfering in the internal affairs of Iraq and the frequent armed aggressions against the Iraqi areas.
Added to all these that Iran still has the same "aggressive slogans" against Iraq despite the lapse of 19 years since the war.
