Egyptian companies compete to win Iraqi deals
Egypt-Iraq, Business, 8/7/1999
A group of Egyptian companies producing foodstuffs intends to bid for deals that Iraq has recently announced valued at $5.2 billion US.
The department of trade representation affiliated to the Egyptian Ministry of Trade said the Iraqi specifications for the agricultural sector have amounted to $274 million.
Meanwhile, the Helwan Diesel Engine Co. (Helwan L-Mohrekat El-Disel) presented an offer to export 1,650 electric generators to the Iraqi Agriculture Ministry.
This comes within the framework of the Egyptian - Iraqi reconciliation plan within the oil-for-food program and Baghdad's desire for the Arab states to win the largest part of this agreement.
