Arab investments in Tunisia up by $ 155 million until end 1998

Arab investments in Tunisia have risen by $ 155 million by the end of 1998 compared to the previous year, totalling $ 290 million.

A report issued by the Arab foundation for investments guarantees published here on Friday said that Tunisia's share of such Arab investments has jumped from 8.5 percent at the end of 1997 to 12.9 percent by the end of last year.

It added that the total Arab investments here were estimated at nearly $ 2.249 billion by the end of 1998, compared to $ 1.589 billion in 1997, registering a 42-percent hike.

It said that Tunisia was ranked fourth in the Arab world in attracting Arab Investments after Lebanon, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

It pointed out that the Kuwaitis were ranked third among Arab investors following their Saudi and UAE counterparts.
