Iran pledges to pay costs of reconstructing all destroyed bridges in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Iran, Economics, 8/6/1999

The Iranian government undertook paying the full cost of reconstructing all the bridges that were destroyed by Israeli jets in south Lebanon during the late-June attack on the Lebanese infrastructure.

This pledge was conveyed yesterday by a delegation from the Iranian Ministry of Transportation and Roads to Lebanese Minister of Public Works Najib Mikati so the work can be completed in four months by Lebanese construction companies.

Israeli jets fully destroyed the bridges of al-Ola, al-Griah, Alman, and Senik, which are among the main bridges linking south Lebanon and the capital, Beirut.

The jets also destroyed two electric transferring stations to Beirut and its districts in the El-Gomhour and Basalim areas. These are the two stations which Saudi Prince Walid Bin Talal Bin Abdul Aziz under took to fully rebuild at his personal cost.
