Yemen announces arrest of Belgian tourists' kidnapper
Yemen, Politics, 8/6/1999

Yemeni Minister of Interior General Hussein Mohammed Arab said that Yemeni security bodies arrested the kidnapper of the four Belgian tourists who were abducted on July 15, adding that they will be presented for trial during the next few days.

In a statement to the Yemeni newspaper 26 September issued yesterday, the Yemeni minister stated that the security bodies found evidence and important information that implicates the extremist terrorist Abu Hamza al-Masri, who is taking the British capital, London, as his headquarters.

He added that al-Masri resumed his terrorist activities against Yemen through standing behind new sabotage plans against Yemen and that these plans were frustrated.

The Yemeni minister said this evidence was conveyed to the British authorities, who are carrying out an investigation into al-Masri's activities.
