Palestine seeks to convene Arab summit for El-Touk countries
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 8/6/1999

The Palestinian people's committees in the camps of Sour town in south Lebanon called for convening a fivefold summit for the El-Touk (band) countries, including Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, in addition to the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization). Those are the countries hosting half of the Palestinian refugees.

In a press conference held yesterday at El-Boss camp, the representatives of those committees called for the five countries to draft a united strategy for confronting the Israeli danger.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian people's committees confirmed their opposition to the principal of resettling and said they will not accept any substitute for Palestinian lands and houses.

The Lebanese position opposes any project concerned with resettling the refugees.

The Palestinian committees said that it's premature for Barak to comment on the refugees' return, as discussing this subject is delayed to the final status negotiations.
