Government about to implement projects to be followed up by the king
Morocco, Economics, 8/6/1999

The Moroccan government is about to implement economic projects that will be followed up by King Mohammed VI, the minister in charge of the government general affairs, Ahmed Lahlimi, said.

The projects deal with investments, education, social solidarity and struggle against poverty, Lahlimi told the Doha-based television channel Al-Jazira.

The minister stated that the projects will target the achievement of sustained development and continued economic growth, part of a balanced society.

The prospects for the new era raise great hopes, he said, adding that the governmental projects benefit from the backing of King Mohammed VI and meet the king's aspirations.

Lahlimi, who recalled that the projects had been decided by the late King Hassan II, said the programs will be implemented next fall at an accelerated rhythm.

The minister also lauded King Mohammed VI's first Throne Speech, made last week. He underlined that the king grants keen interest to the least favored social layers, joblessness, the reform of the education sector and to youth training.
