Three persons killed in an explosion in Sanaa
Three persons were killed and another 33 were wounded when a bomb went off on Wednesday in one of the markets in Sanaa. The Yemeni authorities fear that the explosion has a connection to the upholding of the penalty sentence against Zein al-Abidin al-Muhdar, commander of the Islamic Abeen Army - Aden, after he was convicted of kidnapping western tourists and killing four of them in December 1998.

The Egyptian central bank brought new liquidity in the market valued at 900 million pounds to repurchase the bonds of general budget from banks, within the framework of the plan of Egyptian central bank to add liquidity in Egyptian banks. The central bank suggested new liquidity on last Monday and Sunday valued at L.E. 1.6 billion, in addition to L.E. 900 million that will arrive at the market on Saturday, bringing the total liquidity to L.E. 3.4 billion.

Chairman of the opposition Higher Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, Muhammad Baqer al-Hakim, arrived on Tuesday in Riyadh leading a high-ranking delegation at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz. The US ambassador in Cairo, Daniel Kurtzer, signed a donation of $700,000 on behalf of the US Agency for International Development to finance three feasibility studies regarding petroleum and private hospitals. Kurtzer said during the press conference held on this occasion that so far the Congress has not specified a certain level of aid for Egypt. During digging for telephone lines in the town of Maaraka, Lebanon (Tyre district) ancient cemeteries and a skeleton for a man that may date back to 2000 BC were uncovered.
